Account display defaults: language and theme

Last updated

Your Solavel account can remember two display choices for you: the language you prefer and the theme (light or dark). Once you save them, Solavel uses them when you sign in on another browser or device and hands them to your apps when you open them from the portal, so you do not have to set up each app again.

This page explains where to set them, exactly what is applied where, and what is deliberately left alone.

Where to find it

  1. Sidebar → Account Settings (or click your name at the bottom of the sidebar). URL /portal/settings.
  2. For the theme: the Appearance tab → Theme, pick Light or Dark, click Save changes.
  3. For the language: the Preferences tab → Notifications & language → Preferred language, pick a language, click Save changes.

Who can use it: every signed-in person with an active account, on any plan. It changes only your own account.

The two settings

Setting Choices Default What it controls
Theme Light, Dark None saved: each app follows the browser or device setting it used before. The look of the portal and, when you open them, SolaCount, SolaStock, SolaProjects and SolaHR.
Preferred language English, العربية, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, Türkçe, اردو, 中文 (all 11 portal languages; the list used to offer only English and Arabic until 10 October 2026) None saved: the language of your browser cookie, or English. The language of the portal and of apps that have that language. Arabic and Urdu switch the layout to right-to-left.

Both fields are optional. If you never save one, behaviour is exactly as before.

How it reaches your apps

Moment What happens
You sign in to the portal The saved language and theme are applied to the portal for this session.
You click Open app on Workspace Home The app receives your two choices together with the usual sign-in. It applies them after it has confirmed that you may open it.
You change the account default later A new browser, or the next time you open an app from the portal, adopts it. An app that is already open keeps its current look until then.
You toggle the theme or language inside an app That is a quick choice for this browser or session. The theme choice survives reloads; the language choice may be replaced by your account language the next time you launch the app from the portal.

Apps that do not have your language. SolaProjects, SolaStock and SolaHR are translated into English and Arabic. If your preferred language is, for example, Deutsch, they show English (the portal shows German, and SolaCount has German in its own language menu). Nothing breaks and nothing is saved wrongly; you can still use the app's own English/Arabic button.

What is never changed. Only the language and the theme travel with the sign-in. Your roles, permissions, organization and app access are decided separately and are not touched.

Worked examples

Example 1: Layla moves to a new laptop

Layla Hassan, an accountant at Al Noor Trading LLC in Dubai, prefers Arabic and dark mode.

  1. On her old laptop she opened Account Settings → Appearance, chose Dark and clicked Save changes. Then in Preferences she chose العربية and clicked Save changes.
  2. On the new laptop she signs in to solavel.com. The portal opens in Arabic, right-to-left, in dark mode.
  3. She clicks Open app on SolaCount and SolaProjects. Both open in Arabic and dark mode without any setup.

Example 2: Omar prefers French

Omar Haddad, Projects Administrator, saves Français as his preferred language.

  1. The portal shows French.
  2. He opens SolaProjects. It is not translated into French, so it shows English and its language button reads العربية.
  3. He keeps working in English there. His account preference stays Français, and the portal is still French when he returns.

Tips and common problems

Problem Cause Fix
I saved Dark but an open app is still light. The app was already open. Open it again from Workspace Home, or use its own toggle.
An app is in English though I chose another language. The app has only English and Arabic. Use its English/Arabic button, or keep English.
The language list only shows English and Arabic. You are looking at an old cached copy. Reload the page (Ctrl+F5).
My choice did not follow me to a shared office PC. Another person's cookie or theme choice is stored in that browser. Sign in again; the account choice is applied after sign-in.
The language changes when I reopen an app. Opening an app from the portal re-applies your account language. Change Preferred language instead of the app's button if you want it to stick.
