The Playground is a whiteboard inside each project. You create boards and place objects on an infinite canvas — sticky notes, idea cards, task and document drafts, checklists, mini Kanban boards, roadmaps, decision and risk cards, polls — connect them with arrows, and then convert the useful ones into real tasks or documents with one click.
Use it for workshops and early planning: a kick-off brainstorm with the client, a risk review, or sketching the phases of a fit-out before you commit them to Planning. Managers set up and run boards; the whole project team can view them, and guests can see boards you mark guest-visible.
Where to find it
| Sidebar | Project section → Playground (between AI and Reports) |
| URL | /projects/{project}/playground (an open board adds ?board={id}) |
| Command palette | Playground · {project name} under Current project |
Who sees it:
- Plan: the Playground is a Standard-plan feature (also Professional, Premium, Enterprise). On Free the page shows the plan notice instead of boards.
- Role: everyone who can open the project can view boards; project viewers and guests see only guest-visible boards and objects. Editing needs edit rights on the project (see Permissions).
The Playground fills the whole content area (no breadcrumb row), like the task board.

Add and edit objects
- Pick a tool (e.g. Sticky note) and click the canvas, or open Widgets and click (places at the centre) or drag a widget onto the board.
- Select an object to move it, resize it from its handles, or edit it in the Inspector. Positions are saved when you finish dragging.
- Press Esc to return to Select / move, close the library and clear the selection.
Connect objects
Drag from an object's edge dot to another object. Select the arrow to set its label, colour, line style and arrowheads.
Delete an object or arrow
Select it and press Delete/Backspace, or use Delete in the toolbar or inspector. Objects ask Delete board item — "This item and its contents will be removed from the board." Arrows are removed straight away.
Convert to a task
Convertible: sticky note, text, shape, idea card (including task drafts), checklist, decision, risk, vote, link card. Not convertible: frames, Kanban, timeline, priority matrix, file/image, doc drafts (use Convert to doc).
- Select the object → Convert to task (toolbar, inspector or list row).
- In Convert to task: Title (required, pre-filled; placeholder What needs doing?), Description, Status, Priority. Note: "The object will be linked to the new task and show a task badge you can click to open it."
- Click Create task → Converted to task. The object shows a task badge; click it to open the task. The converted pill increases. The Playground Item Converted To Task automation trigger fires.
An object that already has a task cannot be converted again.
Convert a doc draft to a document
Select a Doc draft → Convert to doc → Converted to doc. A document of the chosen Doc type with the outline as body is created in Files, with the object's visibility. If unavailable, the button is greyed out (Docs conversion not available yet). Failure: Could not convert to doc. Please try again.

Worked examples
Example 1 — Quick idea capture (everyday)
During a site visit Sara Khan opens the Kick-off ideas board of Al Noor Showroom Fit-out (ALN-FIT), picks Sticky note and adds Client wants a feature wall at reception. She selects it, Convert to task, sets Priority High → Create task. Task ALN-33 appears in Todo and the sticky shows a task badge.
Example 2 — Client workshop to plan (full scenario)
Omar Haddad runs a design workshop with Al Noor Trading LLC.
| Step | Action | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | New board: Design workshop, Mode Brainstorm, Visibility Client Visible. | Board created.; card shows Guest. |
| 2 | Adds a Frame Lighting, four Idea cards inside it, rates impact/effort. | Ideas pill 4. |
| 3 | Adds a Vote / poll Floor finish? with Terrazzo and Oak; the client and team vote. | Bars show 5 vs 2 votes. |
| 4 | Records a Decision: Final decision Terrazzo, Owner Omar Haddad, Status Decided. | |
| 5 | Adds a Risk Terrazzo lead time 6 weeks, Likelihood High, Impact High, Mitigation Order by 20 Oct; sets it Internal. | Guests don't see the risk card. |
| 6 | Converts the two Accepted ideas and the risk to tasks. | Converted to task. ×3; converted pill 3; tasks ALN-34–36 in Todo. |
| 7 | Adds a Doc draft Workshop minutes (Doc type meeting note) and Convert to doc. | Converted to doc.; minutes appear in Files. |
| 8 | Switches to List, filters Risk to check nothing is left unconverted. | One row with Task badge. |
Afterwards the client opens the guest view and sees the frame, ideas, vote and decision — but not the internal risk card.

Tips and common problems
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Plan notice instead of boards. | Free plan. | Upgrade to Standard. |
| Toolbar shows Read-only. | No edit rights, or board archived. | Ask a project Manager; use an active board. |
| Convert to task missing. | Type not convertible, or already converted. | Use a card-type object; open the linked task. |
| Convert to doc greyed out. | Doc conversion unavailable for your workspace. | Create the document in Files. |
| Guest can't see a board/object. | It is Internal. | Set Visibility to guest-visible. |
| Delete key does nothing. | Focus is in a text field. | Click the canvas first. |
| Image doesn't upload. | File/image cards hold a link only. | Upload in Files and paste the link. |
