Performance keeps a written record of each employee's performance reviews: the period covered, a rating from 1 to 5, strengths, areas to improve, goals for the next period and any other notes. Each review is marked Draft or Completed, and SolaHR stores who entered it.
Use it for probation reviews, half-year and annual appraisals, or a one-off review after a project. It is used by HR and by managers with Performance access. Employees don't see their reviews in My Portal, so share the outcome with them in your review meeting.
Performance is a record-keeping screen. It doesn't run review cycles, send reminders, collect self-assessments or change pay.
Where to find it
| Screen | How to get there | URL |
|---|---|---|
| Reviews list (Performance Reviews) | Sidebar Talent → Performance | /performance-reviews |
| One review (Review Details) | Click View on the review's row | /performance-reviews/{review} |
- The sidebar label is Performance. The page itself is titled Performance Reviews.
- Old bookmarks still work:
/performance-reviews/createand/performance-reviews/{id}/edittake you to the list. - You only see the menu item if your role has View performance reviews and your plan includes Performance. On a plan without it, opening the URL shows Not included in your plan ("This module is not enabled for your organization."). Without the permission you see Access denied ("You do not have permission to view this page.").
Screen tour: the reviews list
The header reads Performance Reviews, with the subtitle "Track employee performance and goals". If you can manage reviews, an Add button (with a + icon) sits at the top right. There are no summary tiles, filters, search, export or bulk actions.
Reviews are sorted by Review Date, newest first, 20 per page. Reviews without a date come last.
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Employee | The reviewed employee's name, in bold. |
| Review Period | Free text, for example H1 2026 or Probation – 6 months, or —. |
| Review Date | The date of the review, for example 15 Jul 2026, or —. |
| Rating | Shown as 4/5, or — if no rating was given. |
| Status | Draft (grey) or Completed (green). |
| (row button) | View opens Review Details. This is the only row action. |
Under the table, the pager shows "Showing 1–20 of 57", the page number ("1 / 3") and Previous / Next. It is hidden when there are no reviews.
When there are no reviews yet, you see "No records found" with "No records match the current view."
The list doesn't show who entered each review. SolaHR stores the reviewer, but the current screens don't display it.
Add a review
-
Go to Talent → Performance.
-
Click Add (top right). The Add window opens.
-
Fill in the fields:
Field Required Rules / defaults Notes Employee Yes (marked *) Lists active employees in your organization, sorted by name. Always open the list and click the name, even if it already appears in the box. See the tip below. Review Period No Free text, up to 100 characters. Use one pattern across the company, for example H1 2026, 2026 Annual, Probation – 3 months. Review Date No Defaults to today. Drives the sort order of the list. Rating No — (no rating), 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. SolaHR's scale: 1 Poor, 2 Fair, 3 Good, 4 Very Good, 5 Excellent. The screen shows the number only. Strengths No Any length. What the employee did well, with examples. Improvement Areas No Any length. What should get better. Goals No Any length. Measurable objectives for the next period. Notes No Any length. Training agreed, next review date, comments from the meeting. Status Yes Default draft. Options draft or completed. See Draft and Completed. -
Click Save in the footer.
Result: the window closes, you see "Updated successfully", and the review appears in the list in date order. You are stored as the reviewer automatically.
If something is wrong: the window stays open and a red box at the top lists the problems, for example "The employee id field is required." or "The rating field must not be greater than 5.". Fix them and click Save again.
Tip: picking the employee. When the window first opens, the Employee box shows the first name in the list, but nobody is actually selected yet. If you click Save without choosing, you get "The employee id field is required.". Open the list and click the employee. If you want the first person in the list, pick someone else and then pick them again.
Good to know:
- After you save, the Add window keeps your last entries until you reload the page. Before writing the next review, change the employee and clear or rewrite every text box, so text from one employee's review doesn't end up in another's.
- To close without saving, click ×, press Esc or click outside the window.
- Clicking Save twice quickly doesn't create two reviews. The second click is ignored while the first save runs.
View a review
- Go to Talent → Performance.
- Click View on the row.
The Review Details page shows:
- Header: the title Review Details, the employee's name underneath, a Performance Reviews breadcrumb back to the list, and the status badge at the top right.
- Tiles: Rating (for example 4/5, or —), Review Date and Review Period.
- Cards in a two-by-two grid: Strengths, Improvement Areas, Goals and Notes. An empty card shows —.
The page is read-only. It has no Edit, Delete, Print or Complete button, and it doesn't show the reviewer.
Statuses and lifecycle
| Status | Form option | Badge | Use it for | What you can do |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Draft | draft | Draft (grey) | A review you are still preparing, or one not yet discussed with the employee. | View. |
| Completed | completed | Completed (green) | A finished review that has been discussed and agreed. | View. |
- You choose the status when you add the review. The current screens can't change it later, so a review saved as draft stays Draft on screen.
- The status is a label only. It doesn't lock the review, notify the employee or anyone else, or affect payroll.
- A sensible practice: write the review offline (or keep notes), hold the meeting, then add the review in SolaHR once as completed. Use draft only when you want the list to show that a review is pending.
What you can't do on these screens
| You want to… | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Edit a saved review | There is no Edit button. | Check everything before Save. If the content must change, add a corrected review with the same period and write "Replaces the review of [date]" in Notes. |
| Change Draft to Completed | Not possible on screen. | Add the final review as completed, as above. |
| Delete a review | There is no Delete button. | Contact Solavel support if a review was saved for the wrong employee. |
| Filter by employee or status | No filters on the list. | Scan the Employee and Status columns. Reviews are newest first. |
| See who wrote a review | Stored, not displayed. | Write the reviewer's name in Notes if it matters to you. |
| Print or export | Not available. | Use your browser's print on Review Details. |

- Anyone with access sees every review in the organization. Reviews are not limited to the departments assigned in Team access.

- If you try an action your role doesn't allow, you see "You do not have access to this action. Contact your workspace administrator."
Worked example 1: a probation review
Omar Haddad joined Al Noor Trading LLC as a Sales Executive on 1 April 2026 with a six-month probation.
- On 25 September, Sara Khan (HR) opens Talent → Performance and clicks Add.
- She opens the Employee list and clicks Omar Haddad.
- She enters Review Period Probation – 6 months, leaves Review Date as today (2026-09-25) and picks Rating 4.
- Strengths: "Closed 12 new retail accounts in Deira; good product knowledge." Improvement Areas: "Visit reports often late." Goals: "Submit visit reports every Thursday." Notes: "Probation passed. Confirmed in role from 1 Oct 2026."
- She sets Status to completed and clicks Save.
The list now shows Omar Haddad · Probation – 6 months · 25 Sept 2026 · 4/5 · Completed at the top.
Worked example 2: half-year reviews for a team
Al Noor Trading LLC reviews its Dubai Main warehouse team every half year. The warehouse supervisor writes the reviews by hand; HR enters them after the meetings.
-
Prepare. HR agrees the period label H1 2026 and the review date 2026-07-15 for the whole team.
-
Enter the first review. HR clicks Add, picks Yousef Rahman, enters H1 2026, 2026-07-15, rating 3, the supervisor's comments in Strengths, Improvement Areas and Goals, and Notes "Reviewed by: warehouse supervisor". Status completed. Save.
-
Enter the next review. HR clicks Add again. The window still holds Yousef's entries, so HR picks Sara Khan, keeps H1 2026 and 2026-07-15, picks rating 5, and rewrites all four text boxes before saving.
-
A review that isn't ready. Rami Aziz was on leave, so his meeting is postponed. HR adds a review for Rami with H1 2026, rating —, Notes "Meeting moved to 5 Aug", Status draft.
-
Check the list.
Employee Review Period Review Date Rating Status Rami Aziz H1 2026 15 Jul 2026 — Draft Sara Khan H1 2026 15 Jul 2026 5/5 Completed Yousef Rahman H1 2026 15 Jul 2026 3/5 Completed -
Finish the pending review. On 5 August, after Rami's meeting, HR adds a new review for him: H1 2026, review date 2026-08-05, rating 4, full comments, Notes "Replaces the draft of 15 Jul", Status completed. Rami now has two rows. The newer Completed one is at the top and is the one that counts.
How it connects
| Connected screen | Connection |
|---|---|
| Employees | The Employee list offers active employees only. Reviews stay in the list after an employee leaves. |
| Recruitment | After a hire is added as an employee, record their probation review here. |
| Warnings | Separate records. A low rating doesn't create a warning. Issue warnings there. |
| Payroll and Variable pay | None automatic. A rating doesn't change salary or bonus. Enter any increase or bonus in payroll yourself. |
| Team access | Scoped roles never get Performance. Department scopes don't limit what Performance users see. |
| Audit Log | Each review you add is recorded with who did it and when. |
Messages you may see
| Message | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Updated successfully" | The review was saved. | Nothing. |
| Red box at the top of the window, for example "The employee id field is required." | A field was rejected. | Fix it and click Save again. |
| Status not confirmed: "We could not confirm whether the change completed. Check the current status before submitting again." with Check current status | The connection dropped or the server failed before answering. | Reload the list and look for the review before adding it again. The same save stays blocked until you reload. |
| Action could not be completed: "You do not have access to this action. Contact your workspace administrator." | Your role can't add reviews. | Ask an Owner or SolaHR Administrator. |
| You are taken to the sign-in page | Your session expired. | Sign in again. Text in the open window is not kept, so write long reviews elsewhere first. |
| Page not found on Review Details | The review doesn't exist or belongs to another organization. | Go back to the list and check the organization switcher. |
