The Dashboard is the SolaHR home screen. It shows, on one page, how many people you employ, who is at work today, what is waiting for an HR decision, the latest payroll run, and contract or probation dates coming up in the next 30 days. Every panel links to the screen where you act on it.
Use it at the start of the day to see attendance and your approval queue, and before month-end to check the latest payroll run. It is meant for Owners, SolaHR Administrators and HR staff who work across the whole organization.
The Dashboard is read-only: nothing on it changes data. To act, follow a link to the relevant screen. The page uses the full width of the window, and panels you are not allowed to see (people, attendance, payroll or approvals) are left out instead of showing empty boxes.
Where to find it
- Sidebar: Overview → Dashboard. The Overview items (Dashboard, My Portal, Approvals, Reports) sit at the top of the sidebar, above the collapsible groups, without a group heading.
- URL:
/dashboard. Opening SolaHR at its root address (/) also takes you here, and SolaHR opens on the Dashboard when you launch it from the Solavel Portal. - Jump to… (the search button in the top bar, or Ctrl+K / Cmd+K): type Dashboard.
- The Go to dashboard button on the Not included in your plan screen brings you back here.
| Who | What they get |
|---|---|
| Owner | The Dashboard with every panel. |
| SolaHR Administrator | The same as the Owner (full SolaHR access). |
| Older manager-level SolaHR role | The Dashboard. Links and quick actions follow that role's permissions. |
| Older member-level SolaHR role | The Dashboard (view only). Quick actions that need create or manage rights are hidden. |
| HR Manager, Department Manager, Attendance Recorder, HR Viewer (scoped roles) | No Dashboard. Opening /dashboard redirects them to their own operations workspace (/operations), which lists only their assigned employees. See Team access. |
The Dashboard needs the View HR dashboard permission (hr.dashboard.view). It is part of every SolaHR plan; it is not a separate plan feature.
What the numbers cover
All figures are for the whole organization you have open in SolaHR. They are not limited by Team access assignments, and there is no department or date filter on this screen. To filter by department, employee or dates, use Reports.
"Today" is the current date in your organization's time zone. The page reloads its data automatically every two minutes while it is open.
Screen tour
The page is laid out top to bottom as follows.
Header
| Element | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Eyebrow | People operations |
| Greeting | Good to see you, first name (your first name from your Solavel account). |
| Subtitle | Here is what needs attention across organization name today. |
| Updated date, time (top-right) | When the figures were calculated, with a green "live" dot. |
| Refresh (top-right) | Reloads every figure now. The button shows a spinner while loading. |
Holiday banner
When an active holiday falls on today, a banner appears under the header: Today is a holiday: name, the scope ("For the whole organization" or "For: departments") and the counts "n on holiday · n expected at work · n worked on the holiday". The attendance rate then shows — when nobody is expected.
Awaiting your approval
For people who can view approvals, a card below the header shows the number of requests you can decide now, big on the left, with Awaiting your approval as its title. At zero it reads Nothing is waiting for your decision. When more requests are pending than you can decide yourself (for example, other approvers' items), it adds All pending requests: n. When the count is above zero, one chip per HR section shows how many are yours: People, Time & Attendance, Payroll & Compensation, Employee Departures and Field Workforce. Every chip and the Review approvals button open the Approvals inbox. The numbers come from the same source as the inbox, so they always agree.
Workforce banner
A wide banner under the header:
| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Active workforce | The number of employees whose employment status is active, with of n employee records underneath (n counts every employee record, including resigned, terminated and contract-ended people). |
| Joined this month | +n: active employees whose start date falls in the current calendar month. |
| Departments | Number of departments. |
| Job Titles | Number of job titles. |
| Quick actions | Shortcut buttons, shown only when you have the permission and your plan includes the module (see the table below). |
| Quick action | Opens | Shown when you have |
|---|---|---|
| Add employee | The new employee form (/employees/new) |
Create employees permission and the Employees feature |
| Attendance | Time & Attendance → Attendance | Manage attendance permission and the Attendance feature |
| Leave | Time & Attendance → Leave | Manage leave permission and the Leave feature |
| Payroll Runs | Payroll & Compensation → Payroll Runs | View payroll permission and the Payroll feature |
If none applies, the quick actions area is empty.
Summary tiles
Four tiles in a row. A tile with a chevron (›) is a link; it is only clickable when you can open the target screen.
| Tile | Big number | Line underneath | Opens (if allowed) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Attendance today | Today's attendance rate, for example 92%. The icon is green at 90% or more, amber from 70% to 89%, red below 70%. |
present of expected expected | Attendance (needs View attendance) |
| Active payroll base | Sum of the monthly salaries of all active employees, in your organization currency, for example 512,400.00 AED. |
Current monthly salaries | Payroll Runs (needs View payroll) |
| Action center | Total pending requests of three kinds only (leave + attendance review items + advances). Amber when above zero, green at zero. | Waiting for review, or Everything is reviewed at zero | Approvals (needs View approvals) |
| People structure | Number of departments. | n roles across departments (n = job titles) | Employees (needs View employees) |
The Active payroll base figure is the salary on each active employee's profile. It is not a payroll run total; allowances, overtime and deductions are not included. For the actual last run, see Payroll snapshot.
Today's attendance
Panel title Today's attendance, subtitle Live workforce coverage for today, with Open attendance › on the right.
A ring shows the attendance rate, and the figures beside it use exactly the same day states as the Attendance roster, so the two screens always agree:
| Figure | How it is counted |
|---|---|
| Expected today | Active employees marked as on the job who are expected at work today: not on a weekly rest day or off their schedule, not on a public holiday (unless on holiday duty), and not on approved leave. |
| Present | Expected employees who are checked in, completed, or have a check-in without a check-out yet. |
| Absent | Expected employees whose shift ended without a check-in (a missing punch waiting for review) plus absences confirmed in review or recorded by HR. Someone who simply has not come in yet is not absent. |
| Not checked in yet | Expected employees whose shift has not started or is under way with no check-in. |
| Late | Of the present employees, those with late minutes. Late people are also counted in Present. |
| On leave | Employees with an approved full-day leave covering today. |
| Checked out | Today's attendance records that have a check-out time. |
Attendance rate = Present ÷ Expected × 100, rounded to a whole number. When nobody is expected the rate is 0%, or — on a holiday.
Because the shift start decides when a person becomes absent, the dashboard no longer shows everybody as absent first thing in the morning: until the shift ends, a person without a check-in sits under Not checked in yet.
Needs attention
Panel title Needs attention, subtitle Requests waiting for an HR decision. Three rows, each with its count and a chevron:
| Row | Description | Counts | Opens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leave requests | Review upcoming employee leave | Leave requests with status pending | Leave filtered to pending (/leaves?status=pending) |
| Attendance corrections | Late, absence and overtime actions | Attendance review items with status pending | Attendance review (/attendance/actions) |
| Advance requests | Employee finance approvals | Salary advance requests with status pending | Payroll & Compensation → Advances (/advances) |
When all three are zero, a green line reads No pending requests — your queue is clear. This panel counts only the three kinds above; the Awaiting your approval card at the top covers every kind of request (see Approvals).
The counts are organization-wide. If you open a screen you don't have permission for, it shows Access denied.
Seven-day attendance
Panel title Seven-day attendance, subtitle Present employees compared with expected workforce. One bar per day for the last seven days, ending today, labelled with the weekday (for example Mon) and the day's rate above it.
- The pale bar is Expected; the solid bar is Present (legend under the chart).
- Each day uses that day's own expected headcount and day states: weekends, public holidays (marked with a small calendar tag and
—) and approved leave are removed from "expected". Use Attendance or Reports when you need the exact people.
Payroll snapshot
Panel title Payroll snapshot. It shows the most recent payroll run by year and month, whatever its status.
| Item | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Subtitle | Period month/year, for example Period 9/2026 |
| Status badge | The run's status, for example Draft, Approved, Paid, Cancelled. |
| Net payroll | The run's total net pay, in the run's currency. |
| Gross payroll | Total gross pay. |
| Deductions | Total deductions. |
| Employees in run | Number of employees in the run. |
| Open payroll | Opens Payroll Runs for that year and month. |
If no run exists yet, the subtitle is No payroll run has been created yet and the panel shows Create the first payroll run when you are ready., with an Open payroll link when you can view payroll.
Workforce by department
Panel title Workforce by department, subtitle Active headcount distribution, with View › (opens Departments).
Up to six departments, largest first (ties in name order). Each row shows the department name, its active headcount, its share of all active employees (for example 14 · 33%) and a progress bar. Active employees without a department are not shown, so shares may add up to less than 100%.
With no departments you see No department distribution is available.
Recently added employees
Panel title Recently added employees, subtitle The newest people in your organization, with All employees ›.
The six employee records created most recently (by when they were added to SolaHR, not by start date). Each row shows an initial avatar, the name, job title · department (— when blank), the employment status badge and the start date. Click a row to open the employee's profile.
With no employees you see Nothing here yet.
Upcoming people events
Panel title Upcoming people events, subtitle Contracts and probation milestones in the next 30 days.
Active employees whose contract end date or probation end date falls between today and 30 days from today, soonest first, up to six entries (at most five of each kind). Each entry shows the day and month, the name, and Contract expires or Probation ends followed by the department. Click an entry to open the employee.
With none you see No contract or probation deadlines in the next 30 days.

Worked examples
Everyday check (Al Noor Trading LLC, Monday 5 October 2026, 09:30)
Mariam, the Owner, opens SolaHR. The Dashboard shows:
| Area | Value |
|---|---|
| Active workforce | 42, of 48 employee records (6 people have left) |
| Joined this month | +1 |
| Attendance today | 92%, 35 of 38 expected (green) |
| Today's attendance | Present 35, Absent 0, Not checked in yet 3, Late 3, On leave 2, Checked out 0, Expected today 38 |
| Awaiting your approval | 7, with chips Time & Attendance 6 and Payroll & Compensation 1 |
| Active payroll base | 512,400.00 AED |
| Action center | 7, Waiting for review |
| Needs attention | Leave requests 4, Attendance corrections 2, Advance requests 1 |
How the attendance figures add up: of 42 active employees, 2 are not marked as on the job (40 remain) and 2 are on approved annual leave today, so Expected today is 38. Of those, 35 have checked in (3 of them late) and 3 have not arrived yet, so the rate is 35 ÷ 38 = 92%. The three people are under Not checked in yet, not Absent: their shift ended nowhere near 09:30, so nothing is flagged. If they are still missing when the shift ends at 17:00 they become missing punches to review.
Mariam clicks Leave requests, approves three and rejects one, then clicks Refresh: Action center now shows 3 and Awaiting your approval shows 3.
Month-end review
On 28 October 2026 Mariam uses the Dashboard to prepare October payroll:
- Payroll snapshot shows Period 9/2026, Paid, Net payroll 486,200.00 AED, Gross payroll 507,650.00 AED, Deductions 21,450.00 AED, Employees in run 41. October has no run yet, so the latest run is still September.
- Upcoming people events (28 October to 27 November) lists:
- 31 Oct — Omar Haddad, Contract expires · Operations.
- 12 Nov — Sara Khan, Probation ends · Sales.
- She clicks Omar Haddad, renews his contract on his profile, and refreshes: his entry disappears.
- Needs attention shows Advance requests 2. She opens Advances and approves them so they are deducted in the October run.
- She opens Payroll Runs from the quick action and creates the October run. After a refresh, Payroll snapshot shows Period 10/2026 with the Draft badge and the new totals.

Tips and common problems
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Not checked in yet is high first thing in the morning | The shift has started but people have not punched. | Expected; they only become Absent if the shift ends with no check-in. |
| An employee on leave counts as Absent | The leave request is still pending, not approved. | Approve the request in Leave. |
| Expected today is lower than Active workforce | Employees on approved leave and those not marked as on the job are excluded. | Expected behaviour. |
A weekend or holiday shows — or 0% on Seven-day attendance |
Nobody was expected that day. | Expected. |
| Payroll snapshot shows a draft or cancelled run | It always shows the latest run by month, whatever its status. | Open the run and finish or delete it. |
| Active payroll base differs from net payroll | It is the sum of profile salaries for active staff, not a payroll total. | Use Payroll snapshot or Reports for paid amounts. |
| A quick action is missing | Your role lacks the permission, or your plan lacks the module. | Ask the Owner. |
| A manager lands on an attendance screen instead of the Dashboard | They have a scoped role; scoped roles use the operations workspace. | Expected. Assign their departments in Team access. |
| A department is missing from Workforce by department | Only the six largest departments are shown. | Open Departments with View. |
| Figures look out of date | The page refreshes every two minutes. | Click Refresh. |
