Sales changes since 5 October 2026

Last updated

This is a day-by-day list of what changed on the sales side of SolaCount between 6 and 12 October 2026: customers, quotes, sales orders, invoices, sales receipts, customer payments and advances, credit notes and refunds, the receivables and sales reports, PDFs and exports, and the parts of the screen you use to move around. Entries are in plain words and link to the page that now describes the behaviour in full. Purchasing, banking, accounting, assets and budget changes are covered by their own pages.

The short version. Customer balances now agree between invoices, credits, refunds, advances and reports; credit refunds are safer and fully visible; canceled documents no longer count as receivables; sales reports stop guessing costs; two new roles (Sales and Purchasing) let you give people document-preparation access without posting rights; and the top bar, search, favorites, dark mode and small-screen layout were reworked. For organizations connected to SolaStock, invoices now carry the dispatch controls described in Invoice dispatch and SolaStock fulfilment.

6 October

  • Stock-managed documents are guided before posting. For connected organizations, an invoice or bill with stock-managed items now explains what has to happen before it can be posted, in plain language, and the explanation stays readable on narrow screens. See Invoice dispatch and SolaStock fulfilment.
  • Posting warnings and document names are translated into the language you are using.

7 October

  • Create a project without leaving the document. On sales documents that have a project selector you can create a project from the selector and carry on; line-level project selectors gain the new project too. See Invoices.
  • The name you typed is kept when you open the new-customer (or new-supplier) dialog from a document's selector. See Customers.
  • New lines start with your standard VAT code. A new document line is pre-filled with your organization's active standard VAT; zero-rated and exempt choices are never overwritten.
  • Tax-inclusive prices stay exact. With Incl. tax, the price you type is the agreed gross amount, and VAT is worked out from it, so the total never loses a fils to rounding. See Invoices.
  • The document discount and totals cards stay inside the form on narrow screens.
  • Quick lists appear only on record pages, and Back to menu no longer shows the page loader. See Top bar, search, favorites and the account menu.
  • Switching organization is verified through your Solavel sign-in. See Switching organization.
  • Invoice-first selling of stock goods. For SolaStock-connected organizations the net amount of stock-managed invoice lines is held as deferred revenue until the goods ship. See Invoice dispatch and SolaStock fulfilment.
  • Pages load slightly faster: a page starts loading when you rest the pointer on a menu link for a moment.

8 October

  • Sales, Payments and Journal lists share one cleaner layout: filters in one row, columns that fit a 1440-pixel screen, a clear empty state. See Invoices and Payments.
  • Dispatch goods from the invoice (connected organizations): the status strip, Dispatch goods, partial shipments, retry of unconfirmed dispatches, and cancellation of what was not shipped. See Invoice dispatch and SolaStock fulfilment.
  • Existing SolaStock order check. Before an invoice is posted for a customer who has an open, unshipped Stock order, you choose whether the invoice fulfils it or creates new demand. See When SolaStock already has an open order.
  • Void or unpost waits for the warehouse when the remaining dispatch has to be cancelled first; the invoice stays posted and payments and credits are on hold until SolaStock confirms. See Voiding or unposting an invoice that is waiting for the warehouse.
  • New ways to credit on connected invoices: a Financial price credit, Credit goods not yet dispatched and a credit for a cancelled remainder. See Credit notes.
  • Cash sales of stock-managed goods are refused while SolaStock owns inventory; invoice them instead. See Sales receipts.
  • Refund a cash sale (off by default): a quantity-based refund of a sales receipt, with a new Cancelled refund status. See Refund receipts.
  • Dark-mode badges keep readable tints, and related-journal headers match their tables.

9 October

  • Dismiss a duplicate draft invoice. A draft created from a SolaStock shipment that duplicates an invoice you already issued can be dismissed, with a required reason, instead of deleted: it stays on file, can never be posted, and is hidden from the invoice list unless you filter by Dismissed. See Dismiss a duplicate draft.
  • Credit-note draft for a cancelled remainder. When the warehouse cancels the rest of a partly dispatched order, one click creates the draft credit for exactly the cancelled quantity. See Cancelling what was not shipped.
  • Unattended postings wait for a person. Bulk posting, the API and recurring invoices never pick a Stock order on your behalf; the demand is held until someone chooses. See Recurring.

10 October

  • New roles: Sales and Purchasing. Give people access to prepare documents without letting them post, pay, void or see financial reports. Roles can be combined, and owners can adjust each one. See Roles and permissions.
  • The account menu lists your other Solavel apps (SolaHR, SolaStock, SolaProjects) and opens them, and the portal, in a new tab. See The account menu.
  • Payment methods are filled in and filter the accounts. New organizations get Cash, Check, Bank Transfer, Credit Card, Debit Card and Mobile Payment; choosing Cash shows cash accounts and any other method shows bank accounts, on customer payments and sales receipts. See Payments.
  • Sales receipts no longer show a receivable account, because a cash sale debits the cash or bank account you choose. See Sales receipts.
  • One customer field. The duplicate "Customer Name (snapshot)" boxes were removed from invoices, credit notes and sales receipts; quotes and sales orders already had a single customer field. See Customers.
  • Quote and sales order forms use one layout for create and edit (customer first, Terms beside Notes, formatted numbers), with a single error box that lists what to fix and focuses the first problem field. See Quotes and Sales orders.
  • Messages are translated, including notices shown after a page reloads and the validation messages of bulk invoice and receipt imports.
  • Dark mode and small screens received a broad round of fixes: payment forms, toasts and dialogs, the Plan & usage page, the quick-add panel, the organization switcher buttons, and a ⋯ menu for top-bar buttons that do not fit. See Small screens and the hidden rail.
  • Sidebar drawers close when the window width changes, so they never stay stuck open after a rotation.
  • Archived or non-saleable items cannot be added to new sales lines; they stay on documents that already use them.

11 October

Customer balances and credit

  • Open invoice balances count applied credit. After a credit note is applied, the Open Invoices report shows Paid and Credits Applied separately and the balance is correct; the Overdue status also counts credit. See Customer credit and balances.
  • Credit application is stricter and fairer: same currency, posted invoice, allocation date in an open period and not before the credit or invoice date; foreign-currency differences go to realized FX. See Credit notes.
  • Canceled documents are excluded from customer statements, receivable detail and opening balances. See Customer statements and sales reports.
  • Cash sales are no longer subtracted from receivables statements. See Sales receipts.
  • Customer profile totals include posted refunds, and the cards are labelled as a document view that includes drafts (Document balance). See Customers.

Refunds, payments and advances

  • Customer credit refunds were rebuilt: the list shows Linked Credit and Credit Remaining with date filters, the first page renders at once, submissions are protected against double clicks and races, bank accounts must be cash or bank accounts, posted refunds appear on the statement, and reversing a refund has its own permission (Reverse posted customer refunds). See Refund receipts.
  • Refund PDFs and credit-note PDFs disclose the credit source and balances (Allocated Credit, Refunded Credit, Available Credit). See Credit notes.
  • Payment drafts keep their allocations when reopened, tell you when an invoice has changed (Refresh allocations), and drafts without allocations stay reachable. See Reopen a draft payment.
  • Advances: applying an advance is no longer counted as cash received in Payments Received; advance journals link to their source; refunds of foreign-currency advances release the liability at its carried value with the difference in FX; vouchers print. See Customer advance payments.
  • Sales receipt totals: Paid and Balance Due are correct on screen and on the PDF, and revenue lines keep their dimension tags. See Sales receipts.

Reports, PDFs and exports

  • Sales reports reconcile and stop guessing costs. Sales by Item shows Unavailable instead of an invented cost or margin; Sales by Customer, Receivable Summary, Invoice Details and Credit Note Details state their scope and use the same cutoff rules. See Customer statements and sales reports.
  • Exports and PDFs follow your language: headings, workbook details and statuses in all 11 supported languages; export access follows each list's view permission; the customer export is translated. See PDF templates.
  • Quote PDFs print the item name with its description beneath.

Moving around the app

  • Instant, localized page search. Page results appear as you type, in your language, ignoring accents and Arabic letter variants; records follow. See Global search.
  • The organization switcher shrinks to a logo when the search needs room or the screen is narrow; choosing the organization you are in does nothing; your language is kept when you switch. See Switching organization.
  • Favorites dialog sits above everything and works on small screens. See Favorites.
  • Mobile document lines show a labelled price box with its source note on separate rows; dropdowns stay within the screen.
  • Settings sections are packed into two compact columns on wide screens. See Settings.
  • Recurring templates are fully translated and mirror correctly in right-to-left languages. See Recurring.

12 October

  • Project financial views subtract applied credit. A project's receivable balance now deducts credit notes that were applied to its invoices (unapplied or refunded credit does not count as settlement). See Projects finance.
  • Sales Overview: Remaining credit is exact. It now counts only posted sales credit notes, minus the credit applied to invoices and minus posted refunds. Draft credit notes no longer inflate it, and refunds now reduce it. See Sales Overview.
  • Sales by Item keeps its totals. Services and non-inventory lines no longer turn the cost, profit and margin totals into Unavailable. Only a stock item sold without a cost snapshot reads Unavailable, on its own row; the totals cover the costed rows and a note says how many items are left out, on screen, in the PDF and in Excel. See Sales by Item.
  • Credit note status follows refunds straight away. Posting a refund that uses up a credit note sets it to Refunded at once, and voiding that refund returns it to Unapplied at once. See Refund receipts and Credit notes.
  • Opening balance corrections are named. On the customer statement (screen, PDF and Excel) a correction made through Correct opening balance reads Opening balance correction instead of a raw code. See Customer statements and sales reports.
  • Review shipment link. On a draft invoice that needs a manual SolaStock link, the button and the page it opens are now called Review shipment link (credit notes keep Link Stock source). See Invoices.
  • Menus stay on screen. Dropdown menus, such as the menus on dashboard cards and the row action menus in lists, now open inside the window instead of being cut off at the edge.
  • Documentation in the account menu. The account menu has a Documentation row, with the black Solavel logo, that opens the SolaCount guides in a new tab. See The account menu.

What did not change

  • Quotes, sales orders and invoices keep the same statuses and the same posting entries as before; the accounting for an ordinary invoice, payment or credit note did not change.
  • The customer portal and the public quote links are unchanged.
  • Opening balances and migration of historical sales documents are described in Data migration.
